Newark GC Mixed Team are NUGC Champions

After battling through several rounds of knockout matchplay Newark made it through to the NUGC Inter Club Mixed Foursomes 36 hole final at Beeston Fields against Rufford Park.

After 18 holes the match was perfectly balanced with our first pair of Julia Hatcher and Matt Haynes 3 up with Eva Glasby and Howard Jones 3 down, consolidating following a challenging start to the round against two very low handicap golfers one of whom is now turning professional. Knowing what they had to do in the afternoon both pairs stood firm with Eva and Howard ensuring they didn’t lose further ground and in fact closed the gap. Whilst Julia and Matt tightened control of their match to win 6up meaning Newark were Champions with a final team result of 4 up.

Newark has now been County Mixed Foursomes Champions on four occasions, 1960, 1981, 2013 and 2019.
