TELFORD TWINS LEADING SHROPSHIRE GOLF FROM THE FRONT
Telford Hotel & Golf Resort will be well represented at county level this year after twins Xyra and Djalece van der Merwe were given the proud honour of being named as captain and vice-captain of the Shropshire Women’s Junior Team.
The 16-year-old sisters, from Harberdasher’s Adams Sixth Form, are looking forward to leading from the front over the coming months after sitting as Telford Golf Club’s vice-captains together in 2020.
Having trained and played at Telford since 2014, jointly captaining the club’s junior section along the way, the twins have continued to develop at a rapid rate with both reducing their handicaps.
The decision by Shropshire Golf to promote the sisters to a leadership role is already paying dividends with the talented teenagers opening their season by becoming tri-county champions for a third successive year.
